Shadowgrounds Survivor is the standalone follow-up to the original Shadowgrounds, expanding the alien-invasion action with a new multi-character system, deeper upgrade paths, and a survival-focused arcade mode. Set during the same alien invasion, Survivor puts you in control of three different characters — each with their own specialization, story arc, and weapon loadout.
The gameplay builds on the original's tight top-down shooting formula: atmospheric environments lit dramatically from above, alien hordes pouring from every shadow, and a satisfying progression of increasingly powerful weapons and upgrades. The new character variety means replaying the game with a different specialist feels genuinely fresh each time.
Shadowgrounds Survivor also introduced a separate Arcade mode — a score-attack survival mode where players hold out against endless alien waves, competing for the highest scores. It remains an accessible and intense arcade experience, a strong companion piece to Frozenbyte's first game.
